The county’s adopted May 8, 2019 park management order includes Magnolia Beach and Indianola. It limits overnight camping to designated areas; where allowed, the limit is 14 days with 30 days between camping periods. Wastewater discharge is prohibited, and individual park signs specify local rules.
That dated order is not confirmation of today’s camping locations, fees, facilities or access. Before relying on a free-camping listing, confirm current county notices, posted signs and any later changes. Do not assume a public beach stay includes RV hookups or is secured by a private park reservation.

Magnolia Beach can support a relaxed coastal day of walking, birdwatching, photography, picnicking, fishing, crabbing, or paddling when conditions and posted rules allow. It is a natural shoreline, not a controlled swimming pool or a guaranteed activity venue.
This guide replaces unsupported claims about lifeguards, rental services, crystal-clear water, and universally safe swimming. Check weather, water, access, and current county signs before choosing an activity.
Start with a shoreline walk that matches the tide, temperature, wind, footing, and group’s ability. Wear protective footwear, watch for fishing tackle and sharp shells, and keep clear of moving vehicles and boat-access areas.
Calhoun County manages Magnolia Beach and nearby Indianola public-park areas. Posted rules and instructions at the beach control the visit. Do not block traffic or access, leave belongings unattended, discharge wastewater, or leave trash behind.
Bays, wetlands, shorelines, and open water attract resident and migratory wildlife. Bring binoculars or a camera, observe from a distance, and avoid disturbing feeding, nesting, or resting animals. Stay on public access routes and do not enter posted or private areas.
Keep food, fishing bait, and trash secured. Pets should remain under effective control and away from wildlife.
County materials identify cabanas and other public facilities in the Magnolia Beach area, but condition and availability can change. Bring water, sun protection, insect protection, and a plan for shade. Verify the current rules for grills, fires, glass, parking, and waste from posted signs.
High heat, lightning, wind, and storms can make an otherwise simple outing unsafe. Use National Weather Service Corpus Christi for current forecasts and alerts, and leave early if conditions deteriorate.
Magnolia Beach park-planning materials identify a crabbing bridge area, fishing access, and a boat ramp. Review current Texas fishing regulations, licenses, species rules, size and possession limits, and advisories before collecting aquatic life.
Store hooks, knives, line, and bait securely. Pick up discarded line and tackle, and keep fish waste away from beach users, pets, and wildlife.
Use the Texas Paddling Trail Finder to research mapped routes and access. Confirm that the launch is public and open, and check wind, tides, storms, currents, vessel traffic, and the experience of every paddler.
Wear appropriate personal flotation equipment, carry communication and signaling gear, file a float plan, and use a designated launch. Do not infer rental availability from an old article; arrange equipment directly with a current provider.
Do not assume lifeguards are present. Texas Parks and Wildlife’s open-water safety guidance notes that natural water can have currents, changing bottoms, unseen objects, organisms, or algae. Check local notices and conditions, supervise children closely, and stay out of the water during storms or when visibility and conditions are poor.
Avoid contact with visible algae, fish kills, discolored water, or posted problem areas. Rinse people, pets, and equipment with fresh water after coastal-water exposure, and seek appropriate help if illness develops.
Coastal light, weather, wildlife, boats, and the shell shoreline can all make good subjects. Park only where allowed, keep the travel lane open, and avoid moving natural materials or approaching wildlife for a photograph. Check sunrise, sunset, tide, and weather information on the day of the visit rather than relying on a seasonal promise.
